MADE YOU LOOK™ | LISA ALISA
Pictured: Artwork by Lisa Alisa.Name: Lisa AlisaClassification: IllustratorOfficial website: www.lisa-alisa.comLisa Alisa's Art is metaphoric self biography at its core. All the girls in the paintings carry close resemblance to the author. Her art has stirred up controversy on a number of occasions. Some criticize violence, and others are appalled by the young age of the models. To which Lisa replies:"Life is a violent and beautiful thing, you die from it. My art is nothing but a portrayal of everyday life.Every person has to do things they don't like. There is very little actual freedom in our existence, due to social and economical restraints.Your soul, which is a young child forever, is exposed to suffering and anguish, whether you accept it or not. My art explores the depth of horror, dreams of nonchalance, and aims to bring a catharsis."*Biography borrowed from the artist's website.Related linksPoison Control Shooting Gallery San FranciscoFecal Face interviewVapors interviewHoard interview
THRASHER x POISON CONTROL
Thrasher magazine wrote up Young & Reckless in the "Zine Thing" department of their February 2006 issue. Thanks to Wez, the dude that runs that department, for a great review. I'll post the review in the next day or so.
KISS IT GOODBYE
Pictured: Tim "Chef" Close in "party mode" on NYE at the Newton compound.
Sure, it would seem the statement "everything's more fun in party mode" is an obvious one. Who wouldn't love to be in perpetual party mode most of their days? However, please remember that in life there are two types of party mode: 1.) Intoxicated with lampshade on head, sock on penis, and trouble in your future and 2.) The Nikon Cool Pix version of party mode (please see Exhibit A pictured above). Ah, drunk people with digital cameras.
Happy New Year!PS: New posts coming soon. I must first unearth myself from the post-holiday malaise.
